Investigating the relationship between the level of violence (physical and psychological) and suicidal tendencies in women referring to social emergency and Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Kashan city

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the level of domestic violence and suicidal tendencies in women referring to the social emergency room and Shaheed Behest Hospital in Kashan. The method of this study is descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this study consisted of all women who had referred to the social emergency department and Shaheed Behest Hospital in Kashan city in the summer of 1401. From the statistical population, 100 people were selected and studied using non-random sampling method. Beck's suicidal tendency questionnaire (1961) and Haj Yahya's violence against women questionnaire (1999) were used to collect data. After collecting and extracting data, the participants' scores were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test using statistical software (SPSS), version 23. The results of the study showed that there is a significant positive relationship between the level of domestic violence and suicidal tendencies in women. The results also showed that types of domestic violence against women (psychological, physical, sexual, and economic) are able to predict suicidal tendencies
